Abstract
The experiments on energy and water balance of a Tianshan glacierized basin indicate that the runoff from the basin consists of glacier melt, snow melt and effective liquid precipitation. An energy-water balance model is developed to simulate the runoff from the glacier and snow covered area. The ice and snow melt is simulated by the parameterized energy balance model. The snow covered area is determined by the separation of precipitation form. The runoff produced from the basin is transformed by a tank model into the discharge at the basin outlet, which simulates the runoff processes on the glacial and non-glacial surfaces and in the intra-and subglacial drainage system and in the active layer of the permafrost. Finally, a runoff model of a Tianshan glacierized basin is developed to simulate the energy and water inputs to the basin and the discharge from the basin with the standard meteorological elements as the foremost inputs to the model.
