Abstract

In the last two decades or so it turned out that thin ferrite films exhibit a variety of nonlinear spin-wave phenomena which are rather interesting for fundamental physics and perspective for applications at microwaves. Between such phenomena parametric interaction of spin waves [1], envelope solitons of spin waves[24], and chaotical behavior of spin waves [5] should be called. These phenomena have already led (see, e.g. [6] and literature therein) or may led in the future to elaboration of novel nonlinear devices for microwave signal processing. The aims of this paper are:

  1. (1)

    to review briefly a theory of nonlinear spin-wave processes in thin ferrite films as a basis for device applications;

  2. (2)

    to consider key types of nonlinear spin-wave ferrite-film devices.
