Abstract
Clusters of workstations and powerful servers are becoming increasingly popular. More and more, they are replacing mainframes, because of better cost-effectiveness and flexibility. However, these clusters are more difficult to use and to administer. Thus, resource management tools are necessary for tasks like job distribution, load balancing, performance monitoring and improvement, accounting and optimal usage of any kind of resource in the network. In this paper, a few of these tools are presented and discussed in detail.
