Abstract

The miniemulsion process is an emulsification process which involves the use of mixed emulsifier combinations, comprising a mixture of an ionic surfactant, such as sodium lauryl sulfate, and a cosurfactant, such as a long-chain alcohol, e.g. cetyl alcohol [1], or a long-chain alkane, e.g. hexadecane [2]. The product of such process is a stable oil-in-water emulsion with an average droplet diameter in the range of 100-400 nm.
