Abstract

The general principles of Colloid Stability, particularly as applied to aqueous systems containing electrolytes, have been treated in a number of articles including those at previous NATO Institutes [1,2]. Therefore in this Chapter a short summary of basic principles will be given and then attention will be focussed on areas where Colloid Stability, or lack of it, is particularly important in preparing and utilising polymer colloid dispersions.
