Environmental Problems of the Caspian Sea Region and the Conflict of National Priorities

  • Chapter
Scientific, Environmental, and Political Issues in the Circum-Caspian Region

Part of the book series: NATO ASI Series ((ASEN2,volume 29))

Abstract

The Caspian Sea is currently one of the few locations in the world which attracts the attention of scientists, politicians, and businessmen. It is in many ways a unique region and can be considered as a model area for the study of the effects on society of a possible future sea level rise in connection with global climatic change. This experience is particularly valuable for countries, especially “island nations” such as the United Kingdom.
