Abstract
The Caspian Sea is currently one of the few locations in the world which attracts the attention of scientists, politicians, and businessmen. It is in many ways a unique region and can be considered as a model area for the study of the effects on society of a possible future sea level rise in connection with global climatic change. This experience is particularly valuable for countries, especially “island nations” such as the United Kingdom.
