Abstract
The Caspian Sea is the largest enclosed water body in the world characterized by considerable fluctuations of its level. During the period of instrumental observations, fluctuations from —25.3 to —29 were detected. From 1837 to 1933 the sea level varied in the range of —25.3-26.6 meters. It was followed by a decrease of the level by 290 centimeters from 1933 to 1977.
