Abstract
An intensity dependent complex character of the photodarkening of virgin As2S3 samples exposed to CW and pulsed laser radiation was observed. The excitation by CW and pulsed (picosecond) lasers for the same irradiation doses leads to significant differences in the photodarkening curves. The kinetics of the photodarkening can be decomposed into several processes related to the structural transformations in amorphous As2S3 material: defect healing, photopolymerization, decomposition and oxidation.
