Imbalances in Free Radical Metabolism: Roles in the Induction of Hypersensitive Response and Local Acquired Resistance of Plants

Book cover Pseudomonas Syringae Pathovars and Related Pathogens

Part of the book series: Developments in Plant Pathology ((DIPP,volume 9))

Abstract

We report on the spatial and temporal aspects of the generation and action of activated oxygen species (AOS) during the hypersensitive reaction (HR) and acquired resistance (AR) of plants, with special respect to bacteria-induced processes. This approach is suggested by the putative central and multifunctional role of the accumulation of AOS either in HR or in the induction of acquired resistance.
