Abstract
This paper describes a 2-dimensional measurement device, based on the Raman scattering effect. This technique allows to investigate the mass distribution of several gases in subsonic and supersonic flows. This instrumentation was optimized for the conditions in subscale supersonic mixing channels with hydrogen injection. The examination of the hydrogen distribution by 2-dimensional Raman spectroscopy was complemented with measurements of the static wall pressure and schlieren photography to visualize the shock system that was caused by the hydrogen injection into the supersonic flow. Results from two different hydrogen mass flows injected in a Mach 2 air flow are presented.
