Abstract

Since the end of December 1991, ten Central and Eastern European countries’ (CEECs) have signed and begun to implement the contents of Association Agreements with the European Union. Between 1994 and 1996, all of them officially applied for membership as well. Slovenia s similar agreement with Brussels has been ratified most recently. It is expected to be followed quickly by an application for membership.
