Abstract

Dactylis glomerata subsp. slovenica (Dom.) Dom., first recorded by Domin in 1923 from Western Slovakia, is a tetraploid (2n = 28) representative of the polyploid complex of the genus Dactylis L. It is characterized by its great height (up to 1.5 m); culm thickened at base (to a diameter of ca 5 mm or more); long (20-25 cm) and broad (6 mm or more) dark-green leaves; long, relatively diffuse panicle (up to 15 cm or longer) with markedly spread branches, elongate-lanceolate glumes; non-ciliate lemma, smooth on the surface, with keel glabrous or ciliate.
