Abstract

Intraspecific variations in the morphological and structural patterns of below-ground organs were studied in herbaceous perennials from various populations inhabiting the wide area from the Polar to the Southern Urals. These variations were classified as time-dependent (ontogenetic and seasonal), individual, ecological, and geographical. Nevertheless, the species-specific conservatism in root architecture was maintained in all species inspected.
