Abstract
Two types of LED based light sources have been developed to assist in CCD camera commissioning and to perform rapid checks of camera operation at the telescope. The first is a compact device able to project flat fields onto a detector for defect mapping and as a check that UV flooded CCD devices have a uniform QE. The second design is a temperature compensated LED lamp that can be used for the determination of CCD Quantum Efficiency in both Imaging Mode and Photo-diode Mode. The lamps can provide narrow band output at various wavelengths between 380 nm and 950 nm depending on the choice of LED.
