Abstract
The Astronomical Observatory of Torino plans an upgrade of the CCD camera at its 1.05 m telescope, implementing the drift scan observing mode. The targets of the project are both scientific (galactic populations statistics, parallaxes) and technological (acquisition of expertise on drift scan technique for high accuracy astrometric ground based and spaceborne surveys). In particular, the issues of field distortions and timing accuracy are discussed in view of the astrometric performance.
