Abstract

Surgical techniques for the implantation of implantable cardioverter/defibrillators (ICD) do not receive much attention in the literature. A few authors have described their implantation techniques, but these are methods for the implantation of epicardial systems or transvenous systems with abdominal implantation of the device1,2. Although, currently, almost-all new ICD systems are transvenous systems with pectoral implantation of the ICD, the surgical technique of this procedure has not been described in detail.
