Abstract
The S-Z effect is a unique probe for distant clusters of galaxies as its amplitude is not diminished with distance, unlike observations at other wavelengths. Thus small scale (10 arcsec — 10 arcmin) CBR experiments are sensitive to galaxy clusters via their S-Z signal up to their epoch of formation (0.3 < z form < 5). For the purposes of constraining theories of large-scale structure and the physical parameters these models are sensitive to (Ω, h, n), it is necessary to understand the characteristics of galaxy clusters out to large redshifts.
