Abstract
The reliability of parts in service depends on the scatter of mechanical properties, which operates at different levels: microstructural and structural properties, loading conditions. Probabilistic models are available for the description of these aspects and for the prediction of reliability. The types of models and the problems involved in their simulation for Structures and Structural Components are discussed.
