Abstract

The Republic of Bashkortostan has developed extensive oil and chemical processing industry. Many of the ecologically dangerous enterprises are located in cities (Ufa, Sterlitamak and Salavat) and therefore pose a risk to the population. Prevention of emergencies has become extremely important due to the increased number and scale of accidental situations in the RB. The Ministry of Ecology and Emergencies responsible for public safety and risk management requested that all industrial cities be divided in zones ranked by their relative hazards.
