Abstract
The attention of the whole world was drawn to air pollution by the London fog of 1952. I was in that fog, although somewhat upriver at Oxford. To the best of my knowledge, anyone who has looked at the data from the official government report [1] shown here as Figure 1, agrees that about 4,500 people died within 2 weeks because of the air pollution.
