Abstract
Mannosylerythritol lipid, which is a microbial extracellular glycolipid, was produced by Candida antarctica T-34 from soybean oil and was produced in concentrations of about 40g per liter of culture broth (Kitamoto et al., 1993). MEL were identified as 4-O-(di-O-acetyl-di-O-alkanoyl-β-D-mannopyranosyl)-erythritol (Fig.l).
