Abstract
Conservative treatment of ocular melanoma is used whenever possible. The Genoa ocular oncology study group (GOOSG) treated small and medium choroidal melanomas (thickness < 5 mm) with ruthenium plaque, except for tumours located near the optic disc. These and medium-large melanomas were treated with proton beam irradiation. We evalueted the results of such conservative treatment for choroidal melanomas of the posterior pole.
