Abstract

Methylotrophic bacteria are capable of growth on compounds containing no carbon-carbon bonds. Although both aerobic and anaerobic methylotrophs are known, this chapter will focus on two groups of aerobic methylotrophs, the serine cycle Methylobacterium strains, and the methane-utilizing bacteria.
