Abstract

The goal of the “Electricity Saving in the Passive House” demonstration project was to prove that it is possible, using technology available today, to reduce the electricity consumption for end-uses in the residential sector to one third of the value of comparable households, with the associated growth in gas consumption for heat end-uses amounting to less than 15%. The expectations were confirmed by the measured results:

  • Compared to a reference household in the building stock, the model household needs

  • 65% less electricity

  • 61% less primary energy and gives rise to

  • 61% less CO2 emissions.
