The SOM-fitting Method

Abstract

We present a new astronomical image analysis method based on Self-Organizing Maps (SOMs). The SOM-fitting method allows one to perform accurate photometry, astrometry and classification using a morphologically-ordered set of codebook image patterns. The prototype software and some preliminary results on DeNIS simulations and real survey images are presented.
