Abstract
We present here DENIS color magnitude diagrams for 3 different fields in the Milky Way. One field is situated in a window at only 2 degrees from the Galactic Center, the two others are in the Galactic plane at longitudes 1=15 and 1=25. We first show that it is possible to probe the extinction law along the line of sight using K vs. (J-K) color magnitude diagrams, and we also demonstrate that the shape of the giant branch is changing with Galactic latitude. For these fields ISO data from the ISOGAL project are also available. These ISOCAM data have been reprocessed using the CIA package (see acknowledgements), allowing reconstruction of a high quality mosaic image from the raw ISOCAM data. Magnitude and positions of stars are extracted from the ISOCAM mosaic image and associated to DENIS K band point sources. These DENIS K magnitudes are an important asset to our ISO 7 and 15 micron fluxes, especially in the case of AGB stars.
