Changes in Structure and Properties Associated with the Transition from the Amorphous to the Nanocrystalline State

Abstract

The devitrification of amorphous alloys can produce nanometre-scale microstructures with excellent properties, particularly magnetic and mechanical. The origins of the microstructures and the corresponding properties are reviewed, and the advantages of the devitrification route assessed.
