Abstract
Observational constraints on the density and temperature of the intergalactic medium are discussed. The use of correlation analysis between fluctuations in the cosmic microwave and X—ray backgrounds, for the study of inhomogeneities in the IGM is demonstrated, and a practical example from results of a cross-correlation analysis between ROSAT All-Sky Survey and COBE DMR data is given.
