Abstract
The last few years of the 20th century have heralded the dawn of a new age in which access to information has become globally available (thanks to a powerful combination of computers and networks), and in which the provision of information is increasingly important. Furthermore, a significant change is afoot with many organizations now using computer-based information as a prime source of guidance and reference. The words and pictures on the screen are no longer simply background data — they are the main object of attention, the definitive copy [1].
