Abstract
“Qué será, será. Whatever will be, will be. The future’s not ours to see. Qué será, será.” This is the refrain from a Doris Day song on the lips of many people in the middle of the ‘50s. The song was about a mother teaching her little daughter not to bother too much about what will be or not; the best thing to do for the future, she was told, was to rely on amor fati. This lesson very clearly communicated an educational message of undisputed optimism, and also a kind of naive and irresponsible happy-go-lucky attitude.
