Summary
To meet some of the ideals and requirements of student-centered learning, attitudinal changes are required from both students and staff members of medical schools.
This paper describes the importance of involving students in this process in medical education. A description of the current state of affairs at the Medical School of Maastricht, as far as student involvement in education is concerned, is included. This description serves as an illustration of possibilities for both students and staff members.
Conclusions have been drawn up as to how best make use of the high potential students have to offer in quality control. Implications are given for medical schools wishing to actively involve students in their educational organisation.
