Abstract
Pruritus is a symptom experienced by 80% of patients with primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC)1 and 20–60% of jaundiced patients2. The presence of pruritus or the degree to which it is experienced does not correlate with routine serum biochemical indices of cholestasis. It can be mild to severe and it does not tend to be easily relieved by scratching.
