Abstract
This chapter describes details of the implementation of FlowStream, a software product of Consilium, Inc., of Mountain View, California. FlowStream is a system used by operators and supervisory staff on a plant floor to help plan, execute and monitor production runs. This product has been designed using the latest software technologies, and in particular utilizes object-oriented programming techniques throughout. This chapter will discuss where and how object-oriented approaches have been used, and the effect they have had on the system’s development and delivered functionality.
