Abstract

Aortic aneurysm may be defined as a localized or a diffuse dilation of the aorta, which contains all layers of the aortic wall. A true aneurysm involves all three layers of the aortic wall and is distinguished from a pseudoaneurysm in which the intimai and medial layers are disrupted and dilation is lined by adventitia alone and sometimes by perivascular clot.
