Abstract
Researchers requiring access to plant genetic resources for food and agriculture are currently facing a new regime of exchange. Whilst the precise nature of the regime remains unclear at this stage, once finalised, it will provide a clear defining of rights and obligations. In general, collectors can expect continued freedom of access if the intents of ‘fair access’ and ‘fair exchange’ are upheld.
