Abstract

Previous X-ray observations have revealed that about 20 X-ray stars show common X-ray properties distinct from neutron star systems and white dwarf systems. The central masses of about 10 of them were estimated from optical observations, and turned out to be in excess of the theoretical upper limit of the mass of a neuron star (e.g., Tanaka et al., 1996).
