Abstract
Classical black hole solutions in supergravity theories that preserve a certain number of supersymmetries saturate the gravitational version of the BPS-bound. Such solutions can be identified with massive solitonic string states [1] for an investigation of the conjectured non-perturbative duality symmetries of string theory, and they can be used to study the microscopic origin of black hole entropy [2]. In section 2 and 3, I will review aspects of BPS-solitons for the type II string compactified on T 6.
