Boride/Nitride Composites : Synthesis and Properties

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: NATO Science Series ((ASHT,volume 68))

Abstract

The design and manufacture of advanced materials for applications at high stress and high temperatures is one of the most challenging tasks of modern engineering. Refractory materials such as bondes, nitrides, carbides, and silicides are natural candidates for these demanding applications due to their exceptional hardness and stability at very high temperatures.
