Abstract
The problems of indoor air sciences and policy making are considered as an important part of the environmental health strategy. In this field of activity Bulgaria follows Health for All principles of the World Health Organization and the scope and purposes of the Environmental Health Action Plan for Europe (EHAPE).
The objectives:
To provide education and training at all levels so as to create specialists and teams of environmental health professionals who will be responsible for implementing and managing specific programmes to improve environmental health.(EHAPE para 129)
To improve social and physical living conditions in settlements, particularly for the disadvantaged, in order to prevent disease and accidents and enhance the quality of life.
To ensure information on the type and level of indoor air pollutants, especially in urban area.(EHAPE, para 245)
are presented by the basis for action, priorities and actions of the Bulgarian National Environmental Health Action Plan (NEHAP) - the fundamental strategic document. It reflects the real situation, the multisectoral and interdisciplinary character of the problem “indoor air quality”, the needs and possibilities in achieving the indoor environment, responding to its health equivalent.
