Abstract

The microcomputerized Solar Radio Spectrograph (RSM) of the University of Porto is situated 70 km away from Porto by road, at Espiunca (ϕ = 40° 59’ 57” N, λ= 8° 13’ 52” W), a site which was carefully selected for general electrical inactivity. Since May 1997 there have been daily observations interrupted only by power failures due to lightning strokes.
