Abstract

When setting out to establish the structural succession in complexly deformed rocks such as migmatites, it is advisable to restrict the approach to one which, as far as possible, is observational rather than deductive. This is important because when working with such structural complexity, any deductions made from a premise based on insufficient evidence are almost certain to lead to incorrect conclusions.
