Abstract
This paper examines current working time developments in Germany, the Netherlands, France and Sweden, the main focus being on similarities and differences in trade union bargaining strategies concerning reduction of working time (RWT) in a period characterised by slow economic growth and unprecedented levels of unemployment. The choice of countries is mainly intended to identify specific patterns that are common to other national situations in Europe.
