Abstract
Lockheed Martin Fairchild Systems (LMFS) is introducing a new line of large format charge-coupled-device (CCD) sensors specifically designed for scientific applications. In addition to their large formats, the devices deliver optimum responsivity in the near UV in backside illuminated versions, and feature excellent charge transfer efficiency (CTE) and low readout noise. Performance characteristics of the recently completed CCD447, a 2048(H)×2048(V) imager, will be presented as well as the objectives and development status of a new 4096(H)×4096(V) sensor, the CCD486.
