Abstract

In this lecture, I will combine the theory of events from lecture Two with the theory of plurality from lecture Five. The central concept developed in the Language of Events and Plurality will be that of a plural role. I will show that this notion allows us to regard cumulativity as the two (or more)-place case of distributivity, and allows us to reduce both to semantic plurality. With respect to the analysis of cumulativity, the theory developed here is very close to Schein 1993 and Krifka 1989a,b (It differs from both, among others, by strictly adhering to the collectivity criterion.)
