Abstract
New effective separation material for lithium batteries, highly permeable microporous polyethylene (PE) films, was elaborated in Laboratory of Thermoplastic Polymers (StPetersburg). Polyethylene (PE) microfiltration membranes may be used for separators and different filters taking into account the advantages of PE materials: easy manufacturing, chemical stability, availability and low cost of raw material. Polyethylene is chemically stable material resistant to both organic solvents, acids and alkalins. These advantages make PE membranes suitable for non-water galvanic elements. During last few years polyethylene has become the leading separation material for lithium batteries.
