Abstract
Conversion of light alkanes has been receiving a great deal of attention, due to the importance of increasing the value of these hydrocarbons, which are low-value side products of various important processes. The transformation of these alkanes poses specific problems, mainly related to their relative chemical inertness. Their acid catalyzed transformation is much more difficult than that of higher alkanes, and usually proceeds by a protolytic mechanism [1–3]. In the present work, the conversion of propane over HZSM-5 zeolite has been studied so that information in relation to the mechanism of this transformation can be obtained.
