Abstract
A quantitative study of the production of organic species, mainly hydrocarbons and nitriles, is presented using different energy sources: gamma radiation, laser-induced plasma (LIP), arc and corona discharges. This is the first effort to derive energy yields of products arising under various conditions done by a single laboratory. Our results are discussed in terms of the dynamics of Titan’s atmosphere and the possibility for the development of corona discharges within the tropospheric methane clouds. The energy yields derived by this mechanism are contrasted with those from other energy sources produced at different atmospheric levels. Our results can help to derive interesting conclusions for the Titan’s dense atmosphere.
