Abstract
The literature in Western languages on the history of Chinese mathematical astronomy is generally more sophisticated than that on Chinese mathematics; it is also more ancient and can be traced as far back as the end of the 16th century if we consider the study of Chinese chronology.

Bibliography
Chinese official histories are quoted from the critical edition of the text published in Beijing by Zhonghua Shuju starting in 1974. For example (Xin Tang Shu, ch. 28: 648) refers to chapter 28 of the New Tang History, p. 648.
Quotations from the Siku quanshu (Complete Library of the Four Treasuries) are based on the Wenyuange (WYG) reproduction of the text, published in Taipei under the title Wenyuange Siku quanshu in 1986. On the history of the very famous Siku collection, cf. Guy, R. Kent, The Emperor’s Four Treasuries, Scholars and the State in the Late Ch‘ien-lung Era. Cambridge, Massachusetts and London: 1987.
The most representative articles on the history of astronomy published in China are generally published in the quarterly journal Ziran kexue shi yanjiu (Studies in the History of Natural Sciences) edited under the auspices of the Academia Sinica, Beijing. From time to time the astronomical journal Zijinshan tianwentai taikan (Publications of the Purple Mountain Observatory) also contains articles on the history of astronomy.
Many other relevant publications could be listed, for example Chinese provincial universities’ journals. More generally, the range of publications of potential interest has a very broad spectrum and is in no way limited to Chinese publications, astronomical or not.
