Abstract
Numerical models has shown that thermal or dynamical processes drive the close binary evolution faster than the classic chemical evolution of their interiors. (e.g. Iben & Tutukov, 1984;Sarna & Federova, 1989;van’t Veer & Maceroni, 1990;Maceroni & van’t Veer, 1991 etc). Especially for contact systems, thermal and/or dynamical instabilities formulate evolutionary scenaria, which are taking place in thermal time-scales and even faster. It seems that contact binaries’ evolution is controlled by two principal evolutionary mechanisms: the thermal relaxation oscillations (TRO) and the tidal (or dynamical, or orbital) instability.
