Abstract
In April, her friends having departed, Madame de Staël left Mézery for Coppet from where, in Lausanne, she supervised the printing of various publications, among them Zulma and her Essai sur les frictions. On 10 May she left Coppet accompanied by Constant. On the way to Paris they stopped off at Yverdon at lake Neuchatel, to say a last good-bye to Narbonne, Montmorency and other friends.
